We will meet on your laptop, computer, or smartphone via a ZOOM link that is HIPPA compliant and secure. For EMDR you will be required to utilize wired headphones as well.
It is important that you are in a secure, quiet and confidential space for the session. You are free to select the area that works best for you- a comfy couch, a spot in nature, or even your office. If you would like to walk and talk for non-EMDR sessions, we would utilize the phone without video. Working virtually offers a huge amount of flexibility and accessibility!

I have limited in-person individual sessions and EMDR intensives in my Denville, NJ office. At this current time those spots are fully booked, but please inquire if you are interested in in-person work.

Look Within Counseling is an insurance friendly, private pay practice.
What this means is that I am not an in network provider with any insurance companies, but I can often help you figure out if you have Out Of Network benefits to cover the cost (or a portion of) your therapy.
How it works: You pay the full cost of the session at the time of therapy via credit card or FSA/HSA card and I would provide you with a monthly superbill to give your insurance company. You submit the superbill and the insurance company reimburses you for the allowable amount provided by your plan.
Due to the cost and investment of counseling it is important to call your insurance company to find out if you have mental health coverage both in and out of network. Make sure to ask about any deductible that you need to meet and ask your insurance company what the reimbursement is for the code: 90834 with a telehealth modifier if you are doing online therapy and not in person to give you a better sense of what your reimbursement will be.

One primary reason is that insurance companies can create restrictions and barriers to receiving care with their in network providers (both with medical and mental health therapy). It is important to me that I can provide you with the clinically appropriate collaborative therapy without concerns of whether a certain diagnosis will be covered or if insurance will stop covering mid treatment. I firmly believe that care should be between the individual and their provider.
I also have clients that do not want a mental health diagnosis on their permanent medical record. In that case, the client cannot submit a superbill for reimbursement because a diagnosis is required to use medical insurance. Please do not hesitate to discuss with me any of your questions or concerns on this matter.

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to define the goals that you are hoping to accomplish with therapy. We will start with present moment concerns and work our way backwards as time allows. By the end of the session we will establish a plan tailored to your goals.

The reality is that most of us want quick relief from whatever is troubling us. But the answer to this question is individualized and really depends on your goals and severity of symptoms. Some clients find a few months of weekly therapy is sufficient, and some extend beyond a year. Intensives offer more rapid relief of symptoms in a shorter amount of time.

Right to Receive a “Good Faith Estimate” Notice:
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
